Dont waste your money  
This rain gauge is so inaccurate that it should be illegal to sell it.
It is made well and simple to install.
It is easy to read and the batteries seem to last...
However the accuracy is roughly half or less than the actual rainfall.

Piece of junque  
I should have read the reviews before I bought this from Amazon last Dec. I installed it in June and believed the results until my friend had results greatly different than mine. Being an engineer I took it apart to see if anything was wrong.I then tested it by carefully pouring in a precise amount of water. Well the water wheel was inconsistent in rotating when the water was poured in. The average error was 45%. Nice idea but a terrible design. Too late to return it. R. Larson : 2010-09-15 04:56:32

Yes and No  
This was an excellent rain guage - for just one season. I put it away for the winter took it out when the weather warmed up and put new batteries in. No go. The receiving unit turned on but it never registered anything. I bought two LaCrosse units a few years ago and both of them failed in less than a year.

From now on I am going to use the low tech plastic guages that simply catch and hold the rain. : 2010-09-15 04:56:32

Unreliable  
When its working it seems to work well. The problem is that it isnt working that often. It appears that the display frequently loses its link with the gauge/transmitter (the two components are mounted about 30 feet apart). When that happens it will not measure the rain until the two components regain their link. For that to happen the display has to be moved within a couple of feet of the transmitter.
